, we are committed to pay transparency and equity. The base salary rangeis $130,000 to $160,000 annually,excluding fringe benefits and potential bonuses.

Your final base salary will be determined based on your education, experience, licensure, and internal equity considerations. Offers are typically made below the top of the rangeto support future salary growth.

Position Overview:

Merrimack Health is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cardiology Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our growing outpatient cardiology practice. This position provides comprehensive cardiovascular care to adult patients across the spectrum of preventive, acute, and chronic cardiac conditions in an ambulatory setting.

The Cardiology APP will work collaboratively with cardiologists, nurses, medical assistants, primary care providers, and other specialists to deliver high-quality, patient-centered cardiovascular care. This provider will manage follow-up visits, evaluate new referrals, coordinate diagnostic testing, support chronic disease management, and educate patients on cardiovascular risk reduction and wellness strategies.

The ideal candidate is a team-oriented provider who thrives in a fast-paced community-based practice environment and is committed to improving cardiovascular outcomes through evidence-based, equitable, and compassionate care. The schedule will include 3 days a week in the office and 1 day of inpatient CHOD at Lawrence Hospital.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Outpatient Cardiology APP Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive cardiovascular evaluations, including new patient consultations and follow-up visits.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions using evidence-based care.
  • Order, interpret, and manage diagnostic testing, including ECGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, ambulatory monitoring, laboratory studies, and cardiovascular imaging.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, prescribe medications, and monitor therapeutic response in collaboration with supervising cardiologists.
  • Educate patients and families on cardiovascular disease, medications, risk factor modification, and preventive care.
  • Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialists, and ancillary services to ensure seamless patient management.
  • Review test results, respond to patient inquiries, refill requests, and maintain timely, accurate electronic medical record documentation.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, continuing education, and practice development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Cardiology or designee.

Inpatient Cardiology APP Responsibilities

  • Perform inpatient cardiology consultations, evaluations, and follow-up care.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage hospitalized cardiology patients in collaboration with attending cardiologists.
  • Obtain focused histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and develop treatment plans.
  • Participate in daily huddles, multidisciplinary rounds, and communicate recommendations with the primary medical team.
  • Document clinical findings, enter orders, present patients to supervising cardiologists, and promptly communicate significant changes in patient status.
  • Coordinate specialty referrals, discharge planning, and preoperative cardiovascular evaluations as appropriate.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
  • Partners with the Echo and Stress Labs to facilitate patient assessments and diagnostic testing
  • Participate in call coverage and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain.
  • Current BLS, ACLS certification.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community-based, equitable, culturally competent care.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in cardiology, cardiovascular medicine, internal medicine, family medicine, hospital medicine, or related specialty.
  • Bilingual skills, particularly English and Spanish.
  • Experience managing patients with chronic cardiovascular disease in an outpatient setting.
  • Familiarity with ambulatory cardiology workflows and cardiovascular diagnostic testing.

40hrs/ week (Full time)
