Job Description
Better Community Living, Inc. is launching a seasonal Community Engagement program designed to get individuals out into the community, active, and fully engaged in meaningful experiences. This is not a residential role. The position focuses on movement, interaction, and real‑world engagement. Staff will support individuals in one‑on‑one or small group settings by planning and leading activities that promote independence, confidence, and enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and facilitate daily activities based on individual interests and abilities.
- Support participation in community‑based experiences such as walking, jogging, hiking, and outdoor recreation.
- Engage individuals in sports and activities such as basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and yard games.
- Plan and support social outings including dining, coffee trips, and community events.
- Encourage independence, communication, and decision‑making in real‑life settings.
- Adjust activities in real time based on individual needs, energy, and environment.
- Provide safe and reliable transportation to and from activities.
- Complete required documentation including daily notes and program records.
- Attend trainings and meetings as required.
- This is an active role requiring consistent movement, including walking, standing, and participation in physical activities.
- Work takes place in indoor and outdoor settings.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions should be expected.
- May include light lifting and physical engagement.
- Staff may be exposed to general community‑based environments and conditions.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with a minimum of 3 years driving experience.
- Strong communication, organization, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Must pass CORI, drug test, and driving record check.
- Must obtain First Aid, CPR, Human Rights, Safety Care, and MAP certifications within 30 days of employment.
- Experience in human services, recreation, coaching, or community programming.
- Background in sports, fitness, or active environments.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
$20.00 per hour.
