As the Inventory Accounting and Accounts Payable Manager, you will lead a team responsible for managing daily accounts payable operations. You will maintain vendor relationships and will implement process improvements to optimize operational efficiencies for the timely and accurate processing of inventory accounting and accounts payable.
Job Responsibilities- Manage four-person team in handling the day-to-day accounts payable (A/P) functions including new vendor setup and documentation, coordination with Purchasing to resolve discrepancies in three-way match, vouching trade payables and expense reports, account reconciliations, tracking of deposits and prepayments, and payment scheduling.
- Complete monthly accounting procedures including month-end inventory and A/P journal entries, account reconciliations, reserve and accrual calculations, aging reports, cost allocations, and debit note issuance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with business teams and work with Ad Populum Controller to maintain sound internal controls ensuring the accuracy and integrity of inventory and A/P balances.
- Document A/P and inventory accounting processes, identify and implement process improvements, and oversee cross-training among team members.
- Analyze inventory and A/P metrics including days inventory on hand (DIOH) and days payables outstanding (DPO), identifying trends and acting to ensure inventory and A/P goals are met.
- Prepare annual tax forms sent to vendors and IRS; provide year-end A/P audit samples.
- Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- At least 5 years’ experience in management and in inventory accounting and accounts payable at a company buying tangible inventory from domestic and international suppliers
- Accounting skillset, including an understanding of GAAP as it relates to expense recognition, inventory, and accounts payable
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience working in Sage X3 a plus
- Great attention to detail with strong organization, problem-solving, and communication skills

The hiring range for this position based in Itasca, IL is $90,000.00 -$ per year.
