The Commercial Product Manager (CPM) plays a pivotal role in connecting sales, engineering, and operations for the Dynatect. As a primary product manager across complex products and associated markets, the CPM leads the Client Solutions Engineer (CSE) team, ensuring high-quality technical support, quote responsiveness, and customer focus.
Reporting directly to the Director of Product Marketing, this role partners with sales representatives (Reps), Commercial Development Manager (CDM), and Operations to manage pricing strategies, major quoting efforts, opportunity pipeline (OPL/CRM) oversight, and customer order forecasting. The CPM also drives cross-functional collaboration in a matrixed organization to deliver successful outcomes on key projects and strategic accounts.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop the CSE applications engineering team to enhance technical support, quoting, and application evaluation.
- Set performance standards, implement training, and establish clear processes and protocols.
- Promote a culture of customer‑centric, solution‑oriented execution.
- Serve as the escalation point for high‑value or complex sales opportunities, partnering with CSEs and operations, finance, engineering, executive leadership to execute opportunity through completion.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive, customized proposals.
- Approve non‑standard pricing, lead times, and project terms.
- Support OPL/CRM reviews with the Director of Product Marketing and Executive VP of Sales to track key metrics, win/loss trends, and strategic projects.
- Participate in opportunity reviews and cross‑functional sales planning.
- Manage large and strategic projects from initiation to completion.
- Align orders forecasts with production capacity, material planning, and customer delivery timelines.
- Identify and mitigate risks across engineering, production, and fulfillment stages.
- Align pricing models, positioning, and value messaging with Reps, CSEs, and Product Management.
- Capture insights through post‑project reviews to drive continuous improvement.
- Share market intelligence and field feedback with product and marketing teams.
- Represent the commercial‑technical interface in systems initiatives and business process updates.
- Contribute to tools and process enhancements for quoting, pricing, and training.
- Mentor and coach CSEs on opportunity qualification and escalation best practices.
- Order Budget Attainment – Performance against territory intake goals
- Quote Turnaround Time (QTT) – Speed and accuracy of customer quotes
- Pricing Metrics – Adherence to pricing standards and margin objectives
15 - 35% travel required for customer visits, Rep support, and internal collaboration
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3-5+ years in Product Management
- Strong understanding of engineered‑to‑order solutions and industrial products
- Skilled in CRM/ERP/quoting systems (e.g., Salesforce, CSI, SAP)
- Excellent communication, analytical, and collaboration skills (e.g., Excel, Copilot, One Note)
- Experience managing or leading commercial/technical teams
- PMP certification or formal project management training
- Experience working with Rep networks
- Strong negotiation and business development background
- Familiarity with Lean or Continuous Improvement methodologies
