Senior Project Manager/Estimator
Primary duty is to finalize bids and secure projects. Once awarded, the Senior Project Manager/Estimator provides overall management direction of contract work from start to finish, including scheduling, cost containment, progress monitoring, compliance, and client contact.
Responsibilities- Finalize client and public entity estimates and proposals.
- Seek out and complete bid opportunities for the company through client relationships, network opportunities, public/private postings, and assigned bid opportunities.
- Prepare and coordinate full estimates on large complex work, reviewing plans and specifications, calculating quantities, gathering quotes and submittals, constructing bids, and creating the bid submittal.
- Provide overall management direction to multiple projects, establishing project directives and coordinating pre‑construction meetings with project managers, field, and office support.
- Work with operations staff to coordinate construction methods and staffing needs, obtain necessary permits and licensing.
- Manage costs by tracking labor and materials, and monitor billing, invoicing, accounts receivable and payable to ensure accuracy and timely collection.
- Ensure compliance with EEO/DBE project requirements.
- Address project issues, seek approval for project change orders before work is completed, and manage changes to scope to maintain profitability.
- Coordinate with project owners and general contractors to achieve safe, timely completion and adjust scope and timelines as needed.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with current clients and potential future clients.
- Inform leadership on all matters of relative importance.
- Supervise Estimator I, Estimator II, and Project Manager/Estimators.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 15+ years of estimating and managing large complex projects in a related scope of work.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills at all levels of management, employees, external vendors, and other business associates.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions; knowledge of standard construction industry conversions.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, reports, and legal documents.
- Experience responding to inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, and internal safety complaints.
- Ability to present information to top management, public groups, and regulatory agencies.
- Proficient in Bidding and Project Management software and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Knowledge of Viewpoint Vista and HCSS construction software is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
- Occasional travel and overnight stays to job sites and client meetings.
- Physical ability to stand and/or sit in a stationary position for extended periods (50%+), use a computer/laptop in an office environment, and occasionally encounter high noise levels, machinery, dust, pressurized equipment, electrical hazards, and variable weather conditions.
