Division Engineer - Transportation

City Engineer

Under the direction of the City Engineer this position will manage roadway, bridge and storm water conveyance facility design, construction and contracted maintenance.

Essential duties include managing specific projects including supervising the work of subordinate engineering staff in these projects, reviewing construction plans for public works projects and private developments, developing and administering City contracts for professional services and public works construction projects, designing construction plans for public works projects, administering grant programs for roadway improvements, reviewing the work of engineering department staff and assisting them as needed, preparing and administering CIP programs for roadways, resolving construction and traffic inquiries from the public, preparing schedules, projections and reports for assigned public works projects, monitoring and analyzing the traffic management system and designing improvements as needed, maintaining databases, record keeping, and issuing Engineering permits, coordinating and performing regular inspections of City roadway infrastructure, including biannual pavement evaluation, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university, minimum 2 years of experience in the application of engineering theory, judgement, design and/or construction management, and registered as an Engineer-in-Training. Preferred qualifications include experience in municipal engineering, transportation and/or water resources, and registered Professional Engineer with the State of Wisconsin or ability to obtain the Professional Engineer certification.
