Overview
The Plastics Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful execution of new engineered plastic manufacturing programs from project award through production launch. This role serves as the primary project owner and central point of coordination between customers, sales teams, engineering, quality, and manufacturing operations. This individual ensures best-in-class customer communication, internal alignment, and disciplined project execution across Midland Plastics’ manufacturing capabilities, including thermoforming, extrusion, machining, and fabrication.

- Lead new product development projects from award through production launch, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet customer expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing regular project updates and building strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers, to ensure successful project execution.
- Oversee sampling, validation builds, quality requirements, and production launch activities to ensure a smooth transition into full-scale manufacturing.
- Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and drive projects to successful completion while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure change management processes are followed.
- Track project progress and maintain accountability using project management systems.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and sharing feedback with engineering, sales, and operations.
- Support initiatives that improve processes, efficiency, and overall project execution.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead new product development projects from award through production launch, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet customer expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing regular project updates and building strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers, to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage project schedules, tooling development, material readiness, production documentation, and supplier deliverables.
- Oversee sampling, validation builds, quality requirements, and production launch activities to ensure a smooth transition into full-scale manufacturing.
- Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and drive projects to successful completion while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure change management processes are followed.
- Track project progress and maintain accountability using project management systems.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and sharing feedback with engineering, sales, and operations.
- Support initiatives that improve processes, efficiency, and overall project execution.
- Minimum of 3 years of project management or manufacturing engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
- Experience in plastics or custom manufacturing preferred.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.
- Technical understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
