Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Buyer with 2+ years of experience in steel and metals procurement to support sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with SAP ERP systems, a strong understanding of metal commodities, and the ability to manage vendor relationships while ensuring cost efficiency and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

+ Source and procure steel and metal materials (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum) in alignment with company requirements

+ Manage purchase orders, pricing, and delivery schedules within SAP ERP system

+ Develop and maintain relationships with mills, distributors, and suppliers

+ Evaluate supplier performance on cost, quality, and delivery metrics

+ Negotiate pricing, contracts, and lead times to optimize cost savings

+ Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with planning and production teams

+ Ensure compliance with procurement policies and industry standards

+ Analyze market trends for steel and metals to support strategic buying decisions

+ Resolve discrepancies related to shipments, invoices, and quality issues

Required Qualifications

+ 2+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain (preferably in steel or metals industry)

+ Experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems

+ Strong understanding of metal grades, specifications, and supply channels

+ Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis

+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

+ Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience sourcing from mills and service centers

+ Knowledge of commodity pricing trends and indices (e.g., steel market fluctuations)

+ Familiarity with manufacturing or industrial environments

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of New Berlin, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $60000.00/yr.

Vacation: 2 weeks of vacation per year (pro-rated for the first year depending on start date). 5-12 years of service, 3 weeks. 13+ years of service, 4 weeks. Pro-rated the first year after 90 days of service Holidays: 10 paid holidays per year
