This position reports to: Director, Portfolio

In this role
, you will lead the strategy, development, delivery, and commercial performance of the US training organization within ABB Motion Services. This role ensures high-quality technical and commercial training experiences for customers, channel partners, and internal teams — while transforming training into a scalable, monetizable revenue stream. The ideal candidate blends strong people leadership, commercial strategy, operational excellence, and cross-functional alignment.

This role is contributing to the Motion Service-Portfolio & Strategy Division.

Your role and responsibilities
  • Leadership & Team Management - Lead, coach, and develop instructors, specialists, and eLearning staff;
    Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and operating rhythms;
    Build a positive, trust-based culture grounded in accountability and collaboration;
    Ensure workforce planning, resource allocation, and performance development.
  • Training Strategy, Roadmap & Portfolio Alignment - Develop and execute a training strategy aligned to Motion Services’ goals;
    Integrate training into portfolio planning, product launches, and service offerings;
    Define KPIs for training quality, business impact, and operational success.
  • Monetization & Commercialization of Training - Build and implement revenue strategy for the training portfolio;
    Develop pricing structures including tiered, bundled, certification, and subscription models;
    Partner with Sales to ensure training is sold commercially and the value proposition is clear;
    Forecast revenue, manage P&L, and build strategy to grow the training offering.
  • Operational Excellence & Process Optimization - Standardize and document processes for scheduling, coordination, logistics, and operations;
    Streamline meeting structures, documentation, and workflows;
    Oversee version control and LMS governance;
    Drive continuous operational improvement and efficiency.
  • Curriculum Development & Learning Experience - Oversee content creation for hands-on, eLearning, simulations, and assessments;
    Ensure technical accuracy and alignment with product readiness;
    Maintain compliance with ABB standards and safety guidelines.
  • Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration - Serve as liaison between Training, Portfolio & Strategy, Product Management, Sales, and Channel teams;
    Support channel certification, One Care adoption, and modernization initiatives;
    Collaborate with global teams on content alignment and best practices.
  • Analytics, Insights & Business Reporting - Build dashboards to measure profitability, demand, utilization, and margin;
    Use data to optimize the training portfolio;
    Present insights and recommendations to leadership.

Qualifications For

The Role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Education, or related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in technical training, L&D, service delivery, or similar roles.
  • Proven leadership experience improving team culture and clarity;
    Strong operational excellence mindset;
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience monetizing training or services (pricing, packaging, forecasting);
    Experience with LMS platforms.
  • Ability to operate in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Preferred:
    Experience in industrial automation, motion control, drives, or power systems;
    Background in Portfolio, Product Management, or Service organizations;
    Strong financial modeling skills;
    Experience with channel enablement or certification programs.
  • Travel Requirement - 25%
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
