Material Handler

Description

Production material handlers assigned to each production line and given the task of handing all raw and finished goods for that line.

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Previous operations and/or warehouse experience desired

• High school diploma or equivalent required, Associates degree preferred:
• One-year related experience.
• Requires the ability to pass forklift operator course and drive a forklift (certified).
• Other combination of education and experience that would be equivalent or exceed above standard.

Ability to read and interpret (English) documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit/stand; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders.

The employee must frequently lift and/or manually move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or manually move up to 100 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee works in a factory environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. He/she is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud.

Requires the use of steel toed shoes, safety glasses, and masks.
