The Opportunity:
Harken is seeking a Swiss Lathes Machine Setup and Operator to join our team. This role responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing Swiss lathe machines to manufacture precision components that meet strict quality, tolerance, and surface finish requirements. This role interprets blueprints and technical drawings, verifies part quality using precision measuring instruments, and monitors machining processes to ensure consistent production.
The operator troubleshoots equipment issues, performs machine adjustments and minor repairs, and supports continuous improvement by recommending tooling, fixturing, and process enhancements. Success in this position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What you will do:
Set up, operate, and adjust Swiss lathe machines
Run routine programs and perform machining operations to meet close tolerance and finish specifications
Recognize proper tooling and fixture applications and follow proven program formats
Read and interpret detailed part drawings, blueprints, and specifications
Monitor machine performance and report any variations from specifications
Assist in proving out new programs or critical program variations under supervision
Recommend tooling arrangements, fixtures, and operation sequences to improve efficiency and quality
Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to inspect and verify parts
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards
Other duties and projects as assigned
What you bring:
Minimum Qualifications:
3 years of Swiss lathe setup experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience using precision measuring instruments
Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Proven expertise in hand and CAM programming
GD&T experience
Proficiency in G-code and M-code
