CNC Operator
Manufacture parts to specification; setup, adjust and prepare CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Chuckers and/or CNC Swiss; optimize machine capability, produce quality product; and perform other tasks as assigned.
This individual would work 3 x 12-hour shifts Friday-Sunday, paid for 40 hours.
This position requires activities that are subject to US Export Control Laws and require US Citizenship or Green Card Holder.
Requirements
- Set up machines and run production.
- Troubleshoot and remedy complex tooling and machine issues.
- Produce simple tooling from raw material.
- Ensure machines are properly maintained. Know when and why machine is not at peak performance, how to increase performance and fix errors. Perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
- Operate to workmanship standards, working from prints, process routings, and/or samples to achieve, or to exceed quality and productions standards. Seek assistance if standards cannot be met.
- Inspect first pieces, using predetermined gaging instruments such as micrometers, depth micrometers, comparator, fixed gaging, and other job specific gaging instruments to maintain specified requirements.
- Report work performed via Pro Shop ERP and maintain proper documentation.
- Follow the safe practices and housekeeping instructions for the CNC department.
- Know and understand the relevant sections of Pindel's ISO 9001 and AS9100D Aerospace Quality Management Systems and how they apply to this job.
- Communicate with manager, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
- Train, develop and support department employees in setups and operation.
- Instruct personnel assigned to operate machines.
- Operate machines when needed.
- Contribute to continual improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
- Minimum of one year experience preferred in setup of CNC Lathes, multi-axis lathes, VMC, and/or CNC Swiss in a job shop environment.
- Applicable technical certificate a plus.
- Completed in-house training as a CNC Setup.
- Understands tooling application and shown competence in inserting, changing and adjusting tools.
- Strong understanding in blueprint reading, GD&T and parts inspection capabilities.
- Proven problem solving ability.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with, and effectively relate to others.
- Completed CNC safety training.
- Computer literate.
- Read, write and speak English.
- Able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Math competency to include but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, trigonometry and algebra.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Must be adaptable to changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Understand Pindel's ISO and AS9100 Aerospace Quality Management Systems.
- Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to micrometers, OD micrometers, height stands, depth gages, thread gages.
