Machine Operator
This role operates high-speed production equipment to convert materials to precise specifications while maintaining quality, safety, and production standards. The Machine Operator sets up, adjusts, and runs one or more machines, ensures proper material handling, and completes all required documentation in a clean, organized manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Set up, adjust, and operate one or more pieces of high-speed equipment to convert materials according to established specifications, following production schedules and work instructions.
- Select appropriate job supplies and verify that materials match order requirements, ensuring correct alignment on the machine to minimize waste and maximize material utilization.
- Load and unload materials onto or off machines or equipment with care and accuracy, reporting any material or order discrepancies to supervisory personnel.
- Transfer completed materials from machines to skids, pallets, containers, or other designated storage, ensuring products are handled safely and efficiently.
- Repackage unused bulk stock for proper storage and maintain cleanliness and organization of materials in the work area.
- Maintain equipment and the surrounding work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition, following housekeeping and safety standards.
- Package or prepare finished materials for shipment, including tagging or labeling with required information and completing work orders and related records.
- Assist in monitoring supplies, materials, and equipment levels, and complete inventory usage slips for stock materials used during production.
- Perform all work within rated production standards, maintaining consistent output and notifying supervisory personnel when production standards are exceeded.
- Follow and comply with all rules, policies, and regulations of employment as outlined in the Associate Handbook and any updates communicated through official channels.
- Ensure all quality standards are met by performing required tests, recording data, and completing documentation in accordance with the Quality Program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel to support production and operational needs.
- At least 2 years of machine operator experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- At least 2 years of high-speed machine operator experience; industry background may vary.
- Proficiency in operating and monitoring high-speed machinery and equipment.
- Ability to use measurement tools, including tape measures, accurately and consistently.
- Ability to read and write clearly to understand work orders, instructions, and documentation requirements.
- Basic math skills to perform measurements, calculations, and material usage tracking.
- Troubleshooting skills to identify and address basic machine or process issues.
- Ability to follow quality procedures and accurately complete quality-related documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team in a production environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience using measurement tools such as tape measures and other basic measuring devices.
- Familiarity with completing work orders, production records, and inventory usage slips.
- Comfort working with high-speed, automated, or semi-automated production equipment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure proper material alignment, reduced waste, and adherence to specifications.
- Good organizational skills to maintain clean, orderly work areas and properly stored materials.
- Willingness to train on a different shift for several months before moving to the regular shift assignment.
