Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Quality Control, the Technician checks and tests in‑process and finished products, ensuring conformance to company quality standards and customer specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Conduct standardized tests on intermediate and finished food products to ensure compliance with standards and regulations regarding factors such as size, color, and flavor. Flavor analysis entails tasting products potentially containing the following allergens: wheat, milk, soy, egg, peanut, tree nut, and sesame.
- Check the metal detector to ensure proper operation; report malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
- Gather retention, microbiological and control samples from raw materials and finished products.
- Prepare microbiological sample composites and paperwork for pickup by laboratory.
- Examine and approve product labels prior to production run.
- Place product on hold and assist with investigations as needed.
- Complete daily paperwork as assigned.
- Comply with all food safety and sanitation regulations (SQF code, Plant programs, GMP’s and policies). Enforce and report deficiencies when appropriate.
- Analyze quality data, identify problem areas, and assist in resolving manufacturing processes or methods that affect quality.
- Participate in cross‑functional teams to address and resolve quality problems and to ensure the continuous, on‑going improvement of processes and methods.
- Obtain environmental samples.
- Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience- 2 years of college and 1–2 years of experience preferred.
- Or a 4‑year high school diploma and 3–5 years of progressively responsible related experience.
- Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English. Analyze and interpret work‑related documents, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and GFSI standards.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively communicate with managers, vendors, customers, and other employees of the organization.
- Organizational and strong communication skills and abilities.
