The Insulation Technician prepares surfaces and structures, operates spray foam equipment, and applies insulation according to detailed project specifications. This role combines hands-on work with construction tools and spray systems, close collaboration with other trades, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and documentation throughout each project.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare surfaces and structures by cleaning, masking, and setting up equipment to ensure optimal spray foam application.
  • Set up and organize spray foam equipment, airless paint sprayers, and other power tools prior to each job.
  • Operate spray foam insulation equipment safely and efficiently, including spray guns and airless sprayers.
  • Apply spray foam insulation accurately in accordance with blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Interpret and follow construction drawings and specifications to ensure correct placement, coverage, and thickness of insulation.
  • Conduct in-process and final quality checks to verify proper coverage, thickness, adhesion, and overall workmanship.
  • Identify and correct any defects or inconsistencies in the insulation application during and after the process.
  • Assist with site setup, including staging materials, assembling equipment, and preparing work areas.
  • Perform site cleanup after each project, including removal of masking, debris, and excess materials.
  • Use hand tools, caulking guns, and fabrication tools to support insulation installation and related tasks.
  • Collaborate with project managers, carpenters, roofers, drywall installers, and other trades to coordinate work sequences and avoid conflicts.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and material needs clearly with team members and supervisors.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of work performed, including areas insulated, materials used, and methods applied.
  • Record and follow safety procedures, including proper use of scaffolding, ladders, and personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are used, maintained, and stored in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Support continuous improvement by suggesting process enhancements and sharing best practices learned on site.
Essential Skills
  • Experience working in construction environments, including exposure to construction sites and trades.
  • Proficiency with hand tools such as caulking guns, fabrication tools, and basic carpentry tools.
  • Proficiency with power tools, including spray foam equipment and airless paint sprayers.
  • Ability to prepare surfaces and structures, including cleaning, masking, and setup for spray foam application.
  • Capability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols on construction sites, including the use of scaffolding and safety equipment.
  • Attention to detail in applying insulation and conducting quality checks for coverage, thickness, and adhesion.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers and other trades such as carpenters, roofers, framers, and drywall installers.
  • Physical ability to work on construction sites, including standing, bending, and working at heights when required.
  • Motivated, energetic attitude with a commitment to precision and safety in every task.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience in construction estimating or working on construction sites is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with construction trades such as trim carpentry, roofing, framing, drywall, plastering, and construction painting.
  • Experience with airless paint spraying or similar coating techniques is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency principles as they relate to insulation and building performance.
  • Ability to adapt to different tasks across multiple trades and learn new techniques on the job.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate work with multiple stakeholders.
