The Integration Engineer is an experienced individual contributor responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise integration solutions using the Mule Soft Anypoint Platform in a global manufacturing and distribution environment. Working closely with the Development & Integration Manager, SAP ABAP developers, business analysts, and business stakeholders, this role builds and manages APIs and integrations connecting SAP with core enterprise applications including Salesforce, PIM (Product Information Management), TMS (Transportation Management Systems), and web platforms.
The Integration Engineer ensures the seamless flow of data across systems, supports business transformation initiatives, and maintains high standards for integration reliability, security, and performance.
Responsibilities:
Mule Soft Integration Development
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain integration solutions using Mule Soft Anypoint Platform, including Anypoint Studio, API Manager, Runtime Manager, and Exchange.
- Build and manage SAP integrations with core enterprise applications including Salesforce, PIM, TMS, web platforms, and other non‑SAP tools in a global environment.
- Develop APIs and manage message routing, error handling, and data mapping across integration flows.
- Design and implement API‑led connectivity architecture (Experience, Process, and System APIs) following Mule Soft best practices and IEWC architectural standards.
- Support on‑premise, cloud, and hybrid integration scenarios, including Mule Soft Cloud Hub.
- Understand SAP master data integrity, information flow processes, and architecture structure to design effective integration solutions.
- Support SAP interface development requirements, working alongside ABAP developers to ensure technical specifications are met.
- Collaborate with SAP developers to ensure seamless integration between SAP and external systems.
- Participate in SAP projects and upgrades, providing integration expertise during requirements gathering, design, testing, and go‑live phases.
- Develop and maintain API documentation, integration specifications, and technical design documents in alignment with change control processes.
API Governance & Best Practices
- Follow and promote API governance standards including versioning, security policies (OAuth, JWT, TLS), rate limiting, and SLA management within Mule Soft API Manager.
- Implement and maintain reusable integration assets and templates in Mule Soft Anypoint Exchange to support development efficiency and consistency.
- Apply practices to integration development including version control (Git), automated testing, and deployment automation for Mule Soft APIs.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to integration quality standards and knowledge sharing across the Development & Integration team.
- Monitor and optimize integration performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements to ensure SLA compliance.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional global teams including IT, business analysts, and operations to understand process requirements and design scalable integration solutions.
- Gather information from end users and business stakeholders to understand current processes and translate them into integration requirements.
- Utilize and promote continuous improvement concepts and tools, including Agile, Scrum, and Kanban methodologies.
- Stay current with Mule Soft platform updates, new capabilities, and integration best practices.
Functional Testing & Support
- Design and execute integration test strategies including unit, regression, and negative testing across the application landscape.
- Work with the Enterprise Applications and project teams on implementation strategies that minimize end‑user disruption.
