Position Details
Position Title: Accountant
Reports To: Finance Director
Location: New Bern, NC
Position SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to support the organization's day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles and hands-on experience with Quick Books. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close activities, performing account reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting efforts.

Key Responsibilities- Perform daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are properly documented.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare financial reports and support the preparation of financial statements.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies as needed.
- Utilize Quick Books to record transactions, manage accounts, generate reports, and maintain financial data integrity.
- Process payroll and assist with payroll-related reconciliations.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
- Assist with external audits and tax preparation by gathering required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
- 2–4 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related financial experience.
- Required proficiency in Quick Books (Online and Desktop).
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Associate s or Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience supporting payroll administration.
- Experience working in a small to mid-sized business environment.
- Knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
