Head Teller

First Flight Credit Union

New Bern, NC, US

At First Flight, everything we do centers around helping our members achieve financial success. As Head Teller, you play a key role in delivering that mission every day. You’re not just managing transactions, you’re leading the teller line, supporting your team, and creating a seamless, positive experience for every member who walks through the door.

Why You’ll Love Working Here
  • You’ll lead, not just process. This role gives you the opportunity to guide the teller line, support your teammates, and be a subject matter expert and resource in the branch.
  • You’ll make an impact on members’ financial lives. Every interaction matters. You’ll help members with their immediate needs while identifying ways to better support their long‑term goals.
  • You’ll build your leadership skills. From helping to train new tellers, to handling escalations, and managing scheduling, this role gives you hands‑on leadership experience.
  • You’ll work in a fast‑paced, team‑focused environment. No two days are the same. You’ll stay engaged, solve problems in real time, and work alongside a team that relies on each other to succeed.
What You’ll Do
  • Ensure the teller line runs smoothly, including opening, closing, and daily balancing.
  • Engage members in conversation to understand needs and identify appropriate product referrals.
  • Assist with account services, including account closures and resolving member concerns.
  • Coordinate teller line scheduling and workflow.
  • Process member transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments, and wires.
  • Serve as primary Vault Custodian and manage daily cash operations.
  • Support and train tellers, acting as a resource and first point of escalation.
You’ll Be Successful Here If You…
  • Take ownership and step up. You naturally take initiative, solve problems as they arise, and don’t wait to be asked.
  • Lead by example. You support your team, share knowledge, and create a positive, accountable environment on the teller line.
  • Stay calm and accurate under pressure. You can manage multiple priorities in a busy setting while maintaining precision and compliance.
  • Connect easily with people. You listen well, build rapport quickly, and can identify what members need even when they’re not sure how to ask.
  • Balance service with results. You provide excellent member service while also recognizing opportunities to recommend products that genuinely help.
  • Are highly reliable. Your team and manager can count on you to follow through, stay organized, and keep things running smoothly.
What You Bring
  • At least 2 years of cash handling and customer service experience.
  • At least 1 year of teller experience.
  • Vault certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days).
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast‑paced, member‑facing environment.
  • Ability to navigate Windows‑based systems.
