Job DescriptionPosition Title: Attendance/Behavior Specialist
Reports To: Building Principal and Assistant Principal
Terms of Employment: 10 months
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Nature of WorkThe Attendance and Behavior Specialist is responsible for improving student attendance and supporting positive student behavior by monitoring attendance and discipline data, identifying at‑risk students, and collaborating with families, staff, and community resources to remove barriers to student success. The specialist serves as a liaison between the school, students, and families to promote regular attendance, positive behavior, and academic achievement.
Knowledge and Abilities- Knowledge of school and classroom rules, procedures and practices.
- Ability to interpret and establish appropriate rules, methods and techniques in maintaining a disciplined academic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and patience.
- Experience working with students; knowledge of conflict resolution techniques is strongly encouraged.
- Monitor and track daily student attendance records.
- Identify students with excessive absences, tardies, and early dismissals.
- Maintain accurate attendance data and generate attendance reports for administration.
- Communicate with parents and guardians regarding attendance concerns and expectations.
- Conduct attendance conferences with students and families.
- Collaborate with counselors, social workers to provide support services for students and families.
- Ensure compliance with district and state attendance policies and procedures.
- Track and maintain discipline and behavior data.
- Monitor trends in student behavior and provide reports to school administration.
- Support school-wide positive behavior initiatives and programs.
- Build positive relationships with students and families.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and families regarding attendance concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance interventions, behavior interventions, parent contacts, and student progress.
- Utilize student information systems and data management platforms effectively.
- 48 semester hours of college credit.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board and local policy on evaluation of personnel.
