Are you a high school student interested in working with children and exploring a career in education? Sunshine Schools NC is seeking motivated students to join our Registered Pre‑Apprenticeship Program in Early Childhood Education.
This program is designed specifically for high school students ages 16‑18 who want to gain hands‑on experience, receive professional training, and build a pathway toward a rewarding career in childcare and education.
Eligibility Requirements- Be between the ages of 16 and 18
- Be currently enrolled in high school
- Have an interest in Early Childhood Education
- Be willing to learn, grow, and participate in professional development opportunities
- Paid employment while learning
- Hands‑on classroom experience with children
- Professional mentorship and coaching
- Industry‑recognized training and certifications
- Career exploration opportunities before graduation
- A direct pathway into our Registered Apprenticeship Program
- College and credential advancement opportunities
- Valuable experience that employers and colleges recognize
- Assisting teachers with daily classroom activities
- Supporting children's learning and development
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment
- Assisting with meals, toileting, and supervision of children
- Participating in circle time, learning centers, and classroom activities
- Learning classroom management and child development practices
- Building positive relationships with children, families, and team members
- Completing required training and professional development

Program Requirements- Complete required training courses within the first 90 days
- Sign the NC Apprenticeship Agreement within one month of employment
- Enroll in an approved Early Childhood Education program through a North Carolina Community College within six months of employment
