Dermatology Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) - Medical Dermatology
Jacksonville| Hampstead | New Bern| North Carolina Full-Time
Position OverviewWe are seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a background in Medical Dermatology to join a growing patient-centered dermatology practice in North Carolina.
This opportunity is ideal for a provider who values continuity of care, strong patient relationships, and delivering high-quality dermatologic services within a collaborative clinical environment. The role focuses exclusively on medical dermatology and offers the chance to work alongside experienced providers while serving a diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive dermatologic evaluations, including full-body skin examinations and patient histories
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of dermatologic conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, dermatitis, fungal infections, rashes, and other chronic skin conditions
- Identify and treat precancerous and cancerous lesions including actinic keratosis (AK), basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma
- Perform dermatologic procedures such as shave biopsies, punch biopsies, excisional biopsies, cryotherapy, lesion removal, wound care, and post-procedure management
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with clinical guidelines and licensure
- Educate patients on skin health, treatment plans, and preventive care
- Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation
- Adhere to HIPAA, regulatory, and clinical standards
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities
- Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current North Carolina NP or PA license
- National certification: AANP or ANCC for NPs, NCCPA for PAs
- Minimum 1 year of dermatology experience, preferably in medical dermatology
- Strong clinical assessment and procedural skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Dermatology certification (DCNP or equivalent) or willingness to pursue certification
- Experience with dermatologic procedures including biopsies and cryotherapy
- Familiarity with dermatoscopy and EMR systems
