Faith Formation & Parish Communications Coordinator
The Faith Formation & Parish Communications Coordinator assists the Director of Pastoral Life & Evangelization in the planning, coordination, administration, and communication of the parish's catechetical and evangelization ministries. The position supports adult faith formation, children's religious education, youth ministry, and young adult ministry while also coordinating parish communications through the weekly bulletin and related publications. In addition, this position serves as the parish coordinator for the ceremonial environment by maintaining, organizing, and improving the sacristy, liturgical resources, ceremonial supplies, and sacred preparation areas to ensure that the celebration of the Sacred Liturgy is supported with dignity, reverence, and proper stewardship.
The coordinator collaborates with clergy, parish staff, volunteers, families, and outside vendors to ensure that parish ministries, communications, and ceremonial environments operate efficiently and professionally in support of the parish mission.
Position Responsibilities:
I. Adult Faith Formation
- Assist in the planning and coordination of parish adult faith formation programs.
- Coordinate Bible studies, speaker series, seasonal studies, and parish missions.
- Prepare registration materials and maintain participant records.
- Assist presenters with educational resources and classroom preparation.
- Coordinate communication with participants.
- Assist in evaluating and improving adult formation opportunities.
II. Children's Religious Education
- Assist with administration of the parish religious education program.
- Coordinate registrations and student records.
- Prepare catechetical materials and classroom resources.
- Assist with sacramental preparation.
- Maintain communication with catechists and parents.
- Coordinate volunteer scheduling as assigned.
- Assist with retreats, sacramental rehearsals, and special events.
III. Youth & Young Adult Ministry
- Provide administrative support for youth and young adult ministries.
- Coordinate calendars and ministry schedules.
- Assist with retreats, conferences, service projects, and parish events.
- Maintain participant records and required forms.
- Assist with volunteer communication and scheduling.
- Coordinate publicity for youth events.
- Support evangelization initiatives for young adults.
IV. Parish Communications
- Coordinate preparation of the weekly parish bulletin.
- Collect articles and announcements from parish ministries.
- Edit and format bulletin content.
- Ensure accuracy of schedules, calendars, announcements, and contact information.
- Coordinate publication deadlines.
- Submit completed bulletin to the parish publishing vendor.
- Assist with seasonal brochures and parish publications.
- Coordinate ministry promotional materials.
- Assist with website and parish communication platforms as assigned.
- Maintain parish communication calendar.
V. Ceremonial Environment & Liturgical Resource Management
- Maintain and organize the parish sacristy and ceremonial preparation areas.
- Maintain inventory of:
Sacred vessels, Vestments, Altar linens, Liturgical books, Candles, Incense, Oils (where applicable), Sacred furnishings, Liturgical supplies - Ensure all liturgical materials are clean, organized, properly stored, and readily available.
- Prepare ceremonial materials for Sunday Masses, Holy Days, weddings, funerals, confirmations, First Holy Communion, parish devotions, and other special liturgies.
- Identify worn, damaged, or outdated liturgical items.
- Recommend replacement, restoration, or upgrading of ceremonial resources.
- Coordinate purchases of approved liturgical supplies and ceremonial materials.
- Work with approved vendors regarding repairs, restoration, tailoring, engraving, laundering, and procurement.
- Maintain inventory records and purchasing documentation.
- Coordinate proper disposition of items no longer suitable for use, in accordance with parish policy and Catholic practice.
- Assist in the renovation and continual improvement of the sacristy and ceremonial work spaces.
