Construction Labor / Trades, Heavy Equipment Operator
D&M Owens Inc. is seeking a hardworking, dependable Skilled Laborer to join our Site Development Division. This role supports heavy equipment operators and foremen with daily tasks such as site preparation, grading support, material handling, and general labor duties. The ideal candidate has construction experience, works well within a fast-paced outdoor environment, and takes pride in contributing to high‑quality site development projects.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with site preparation, including clearing debris, placing materials, setting up job sites, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Support operators by spotting equipment, checking grade, and preparing areas for excavation or grading.
- Perform labor tasks such as shoveling, raking, sweeping, compacting, lifting materials, and basic hand‑tool use.
- Help install erosion control, silt fencing, and other environmental protections.
- Move and organize materials, tools, and supplies as directed.
- Assist with compaction, trench backfill, and layout preparation.
- Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures, including PPE requirements.
- Communicate clearly with foremen, operators, and fellow laborers to maintain smooth workflow.
- Perform any other duties necessary to support production and maintain job site safety.
- Prior construction or outdoor labor experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting 50+ lbs., bending, kneeling, and long periods on foot.
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Basic understanding of tools, equipment, and job site safety.
- Reliable transportation to job sites or the shop.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and positive attitude.
- Ability to take direction and work well with a small crew.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
Outdoor construction sites with exposure to dirt, dust, noise, heavy equipment, and changing weather. Small, specialized crews requiring teamwork and communication. Fast‑paced environment with shifting job tasks throughout the day.
Schedule & PayFull‑time, Monday–Friday (occasional Saturdays depending on project needs). Competitive hourly wage based on experience. Overtime available.
