Role Description The Mechanical Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in New Braunfels, TX. This position is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for mechanical and plumbing systems on commercial construction projects. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing project plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, analyzing labor and material costs, and soliciting and evaluating vendor and subcontractor quotations. The Mechanical Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop accurate bids, support value engineering efforts, and assist in proposal preparation and budget updates.
The role also involves maintaining organized estimate documentation, tracking market pricing trends, and contributing to continuous improvement of estimating tools and processes.
Qualifications
- Experience in mechanical and plumbing estimating for commercial construction, including reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with estimating software and tools, as well as Excel and other standard office applications used for takeoffs, costing, and reporting.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate, competitive cost estimates.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project teams, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
- Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of HVAC and plumbing systems, materials, installation methods, and current industry pricing.
- Relevant experience in commercial mechanical contracting; prior field experience or project management exposure is beneficial.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
