Position: Member Services Staff

John Newcombe Country Club is hiring for a Full‑Time Member Services Position. This position would be great for someone who has a hospitality background or has worked in a Customer Service setting.

Hours:

6 am–2 pm Monday‑Friday.

Pay: $15.00–$17.00 an hour plus tips.

John Newcombe Country Club, known for tennis, boasts the widest variety of fitness equipment, heart‑pumping classes, and results‑driven workouts in a comfortable, spacious and inviting atmosphere. Our team inspires members to achieve their fitness and tennis goals through our programs and classes, delivered with the highest quality and personal service.

We want to continue to grow our Member Services team and provide excellent service to our members and guests every day. Candidates with a customer‑service or hospitality background are encouraged to apply. This position will require a TABC license and a Food Handlers license.

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

Opening Shift

  • Responsible for properly checking in all members and their guests.
  • Greet each customer with a smile and a friendly greeting. Answer the phone in a professional manner.
  • Book court times, training appointments, and group fitness classes both in person and on the phone.
  • Be courteous and polite on the telephone as well as face to face contact.
  • Maintain positive relations and rapport with members and guests.
  • Be familiar with roles of all staff so you can direct guests to the appropriate staff member.
  • Listen to guests’ inquiries and complaints and deal with them responsibly and professionally.
  • Assist in cleaning and straightening the pro shop.
  • Assist with inventory controls and the sale of merchandise.
  • Fully understand the basic POS/inventory system functions and procedures.
  • Promote upcoming events and programs to members and guests.
  • Make blended smoothies as well as prepare pre‑assembled F&B items from our club partner.
  • Pour wine, beer, and liquor, along with other beverages.
  • Wash glassware and utensils after each use.
  • Serve food to customers seated at the bar or in lounge veranda area.
  • Clean up after customers and clean work area.
  • Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
  • Help manage inventory of beer, wine, other beverages, smoothie juice/add‑ons, snacks, and bar supplies.
  • Know and enforce all rules, policies, and procedures at the club.
  • Follow and complete all opening and closing procedures established by the club.

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Previous POS experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently stands and uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; talks or hears.
  • Regularly walks, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches.
  • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Noise level is moderate.

Certificates / Licenses: TABC certified or able to obtain upon hire and Food Handlers license.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

  • Ability to read and speak English may be required to perform the duties of the job (e.g., the associate may need to communicate with English‑speaking customers or coworkers; the manuals for equipment may be in English).
  • Retail sales experience is preferred.
  • Computer proficiency including but not limited to POS, Microsoft Office applications, social media and other programs related to tennis such as  or Club Automation.
