CTE Aide

Primary

Purpose:

Assist Career & Technical Education (CTE) teachers in management of classroom activities, administrative requirements, industry-based certifications, and shop/lab safety. Work under supervision of a certified teacher.

• High school diploma or GED and
• 48.0 semester hours of college coursework or
• Educational Aide Assessment Training

• Ability to work well with children
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Basic understanding of shop tools and the safe use of equipment

• Some experience working with children

• Help maintain safe, neat, and orderly CTE classrooms, shops and lab spaces while working with individual students or a small group.
• Follow defined calendar to serve as a scheduled guest teacher for certified CTE teachers to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or a small group.
• Assist with proctoring of industry-based certification exam administration as allowed.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment and instructional materials; plan, organize and make workroom supplies, paper goods, and materials readily available to staff.

• Provide oversight to ensure equitable participation and the safety of students in CTE shops, labs and classrooms.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside classroom as assigned by campus.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Participate in specialized training related to CTE as needed.

Copier, personal computer, typewriter, and audiovisual equipment. Assist with tools and equipment found in Automotive Technology and Ag Mechanics/Welding.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; tools and equipment found in CTE courses such as Automotive Technology and Ag Mechanics/Welding.

Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying.

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional district-wide travel;
Auto Tech lab and Ag Mechanics welding shop.

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work with a wide variety of teachers; occasional district-wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.

• At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
• High School/Trade School degree preferred.
