Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive guidance program for the entire school. Provide proactive, developmental counseling that encourages all students to reach personal growth and academic achievement. Support administrators in maximizing learning, optimizing attendance, and lowering barriers to success.

• Program Management
  • Define needs, priorities, and objectives for the guidance program.
  • Implement a balanced developmental program aligned with district goals.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of activities and overall program outcomes.
  • Educate staff, parents, and community through public information.
• Instruction and Developmental Guidance
  • Develop campus guidance curriculum based on district plan.
  • Teach guidance units effectively to the student body.
  • Assist teachers in delivering essential knowledge and skills per SBOE Rules.
• Individual Counseling
  • Provide systematic counseling to students with presenting concerns.
  • Engage students in personalized educational and career awareness planning.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
• Group Counseling
  • Design and facilitate group counseling sessions as needed.
  • Apply accepted counseling theories and techniques.
• Consultation and Coordination
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and community professionals to enhance student support.
  • Conduct home visits when appropriate.
  • Provide academic planning, record management, tutoring, and advocacy services.
  • Maintain communication systems and positive relationships with school and community resources.
• Referral and Assessment
  • Accurately assess student and family needs for referrals.
  • Participate in referral processes to special programs and services.
  • Understand and apply principles of testing, measurement, and standardized assessment.
  • Interpret test and appraisal results for personnel, students, and parents.
  • Use additional student data to inform educational planning.
• Professionalism
  • Observe ethical and legal standards of the Texas School Counselor Association.
  • Maintain current knowledge of guidance and counseling practices.
  • Select appropriate interventions and create supportive counseling relationships.
  • Keep professional records and collaborate with other counselors.
• Supervisor – Supervise counseling aides and clerical staff.

• Master’s degree in guidance and counseling.
• Valid Texas counseling certificate.
• Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Minimum of three years of teaching experience.
