Company Description
Since its spin‑off in September 2025, AUMOVIO continues the business of the former Continental Group sector Automotive as an independent company. The technology and electronics company offers a wide‑ranging portfolio that makes mobility safe, exciting, connected, and autonomous. This includes sensor solutions, displays, braking and comfort systems, as well as comprehensive expertise in software, architecture platforms, and assistance systems for software‑defined vehicles.
In the fiscal year 2024, the business areas that now belong to AUMOVIO generated sales of 19.6 billion Euro. The company is headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany and employs approximately 87,000 people in more than 100 locations worldwide.
An ideal candidate for this position will be someone who can work effectively in a small team to implement and maintain robust manufacturing solutions involving collaborative or industrial robotics. Proficiency with industrial and collaborative robots, mechanical design, and HMI/PLC development are integral to this role. Projects will vary from updates to existing equipment, to basic collaborative‑robot handling solutions, all the way to fully integrated production equipment performing operations such as screw‑driving, sealant dispensing, and product assembly.
We utilize the latest Allen‑Bradley safety PLCs and industrial and collaborative robots, working closely with our component suppliers to stay ahead of the innovation curve.
- Use process requirements and design guidelines.
- Review equipment/production concepts, including safety risk assessment, mechanical (end‑of‑arm tool, fixtures, frame, 3D printing, etc.), electrical/motor controls (actuators, sensors, communication, HMI, PLC).
- Read and write schematics; familiar with software concepts and interfaces (PLC and HMI).
- Debug equipment (robot interface to process equipment).
- Work with engineers and managers for coordination of line moves and installation.
- Set up and teach robotics during the implementation phase.
- Support integration of robotic systems with PLCs, sensors, vision systems, and safety devices.
- Build machines (conveyors—powered, gravity, vision systems, etc.).
- Escalation point for production support topics—production process priority.
- Identify, support, and implement improvement efforts to meet line production OEE, scrap goals, and equipment MTBF goals.
- Support AGV systems.
- Analyze data to determine best support for production process improvement.
- Evaluate new technologies to enhance capabilities (e.g., robotics with integrated AI‑enhanced vision and advances to safeguarding).
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Staubli, UR, and Epson robotic systems, and maintain knowledge of end‑of‑arm tooling.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance including calibration, lubrication, testing, and safety checks.
- Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and programming‑related issues to minimize downtime.
- Participate in on‑call rotation supporting robotics and automation functions.
Troubleshoot and optimize Beckhoff PLC platforms (TwinCAT preferred).
Troubleshoot and maintain Allen‑Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000).
Support integration of robotic systems with PLCs, sensors, vision systems, and safety devices.
Understand network topology.
- Associate’s degree in a technical discipline or 10+ years of relevant experience / equivalent military background in lieu of the degree.
- 5+ years’ experience installing, teaching, and maintaining collaborative robots.
- PLC troubleshooting with Beckhoff or Allen Bradley.
- Strong electronics and pneumatic background—able to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and programming documentation.
- Strong time‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Clear communication skills.
- Ability to work on a manufacturing shopfloor environment.
- Must wear company‑provided ESD safety‑toed shoes, smock, and other PPE in required areas.
