Description

The EHS Manager is responsible for the execution of the department vision through planning, implementing, controlling, monitoring, and evaluating the Environmental Health and Safety operations of the business unit inclusive of human, financial and material resources.

Achieves department objectives by contributing Environmental Health and Safety information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing EHS standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change in the areas of as per TCEQ, EPA, OSHA, DOT, TX Dept. of Health;
International standards ISO 14001, ISO 45001.

This approach ensures that EHS performance is proactively managed, risks are systematically mitigated, and the organization’s commitment to environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance is fully integrated into daily operations

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Operations & Continued Expectations:

  • Lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of site-specific Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, programs, and practices. Oversee the creation and execution of safety and industrial hygiene initiatives to ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards. Coordinate cross-functional efforts to maintain a safe and healthy workplace, proactively identify and mitigate risks, and drive a culture of safety excellence.
  • Manage Radiation Safety Program (under TX Dept. of Health standards) as well as training to be facility Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific EHS policies, programs, and safe practices to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Oversee and approve the selection and purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) and chemicals, ensuring all meet fit for purpose and applicable safety and environmental standards.
  • Review new equipment, materials, and processes via Management of Change (MOC) to proactively address and mitigate potential safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Conduct hazard assessments for manufacturing activities, including PPE and process/operation safety management needs.
  • Plan, deliver, and document EHS training programs. Includes First-Aid, CPR/AED.
  • Coordinate and evaluate industrial hygiene testing upon plant equipment/chemical changes (e.g., air sampling, noise monitoring) to remain under the OSHA permissible exposure limits (PELs).
  • Manage environmental programs and permits, including solid and industrial waste (municipal, non-hazardous, and universal), including exhaust air and control equipment, and stormwater requirements, using the TCEQ “STEERS” Portal as needed.
  • Compile and submit required OSHA and company EHS documentation and reports upon official requests/date. This includes ESG data for Corporate Headquarters.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify EHS priorities and drive continuous improvement.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to enhance safety and operational performance.
  • Audit facility for compliance with TCEQ, OSHA, TX Dept of Health, DOT, and EPA regulations, and support the development and implementation of corrective actions.
