JOB SUMMARY We are searching for a SUPER STAR! As a Medical Assistant you will assist the physician with physical examinations and carry out nursing treatments and procedures according to physician orders. You must be familiar with department policies, maintain public and working relationships, and have knowledge of community health and social services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Intake – take patient history, vital signs, symptoms, and conditions, and document in the medical record.
- Administer patient immunizations following clinical protocols and provider instructions.
- Administer medications and treatments ordered by the provider.
- Check the treatment room for properly functioning equipment and stock supplies.
- Perform lab duties: daily quality checks, specimen processing, result documentation, lab and equipment cleaning and disinfection, and monthly QC and patient testing logs.
- Travel to other Centro Del Barrio sites to carry out duties.
- Assist provider in specialized examinations and treatments/procedures as directed.
- Maintain inventory for the supply room and assist the LVN Nurse Supervisor with other duties.
- Perform venipuncture as ordered by provider.
- Abide by infection control, hazardous materials, and all safety policies as dictated by applicable manuals.
- Demonstrate competence with all patients.
- Participate in the agency’s Quality Improvement Program.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a Medical Assisting Program.
Experience: 1 year experience in a clinic or hospital setting preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to perform essential functions and meet attendance requirements.
- Must not pose a threat to health or safety of others.
- Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
- Must be able to deliver excellent customer service externally and internally.
