Position: OPERATOR CONTROL ROOM QUARRY

Job Summary

Operating under the supervision of the quarry management team, the operator must be qualified to independently run all crushing and screening plants simultaneously. Demonstrated competence on aggregate operations is preferred.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in aggregate plant repairs as directed and conduct inspections before each shift.
  • Read and interpret basic automation graphic user interfaces (GUI) and quickly learn to operate the plants efficiently.
  • Start up and shut down the plant and perform minor repairs and adjustments to equipment.
  • Operate console equipment including CRTs, communication devices, recorders, printers, keyboards, and other control instruments used in the aggregate plants.
  • Apply principles of electrical and mechanical instrumentation to make necessary adjustments and minor repairs.
  • Use mechanical knowledge for rapid diagnosis of problems and take required action, including emergency repairs.
  • Perform cleanup to keep equipment and work areas clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Comply with company safety rules and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
  • Use safety equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, back support belts, gloves, and respirators.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Prior experience operating aggregate plants is preferred; experience multitasking on computers is required.
  • Two years in a similar industry is preferred.

  • Language

    Skills:

    Commensurate with education.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, area and volume calculations.
  • Reasoning

    Skills:

    Ability to recognize potentially hazardous situations, understand supervisory instructions, and use common sense.
Working Conditions
  • Occasional exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, and outdoor work.
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
  • Frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force or constant exertion of up to 25 pounds to move objects.
  • Job involves sitting most of the time, with occasional walking or standing periods.
  • Regular communication, both speaking and hearing, is required to interact with employees and visitors.
