Communities In Schools (CIS) is seeking a passionate, community-minded Guest Services Associate to join our team at the Communities In Schools of South Central Texas Thrift Store. Our store plays a vital role in supporting local students and families, with proceeds directly benefiting Communities In Schools of South Central Texas student programs and services. The Guest Services Associate is the face of the CIS Thrift Store and plays a key role in delivering an exceptional shopping experience. Primarily working on the sales floor and front end, this position directly impacts customer satisfaction and store sales. The Guest Services Associate supports a welcoming, community-focused environment while partnering with Production and Donor Services teams to maintain a well-stocked, organized, and engaging store.

• Greet all guests and create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere
• Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, offering assistance, and resolving basic concerns
• Support a positive, community-focused shopping experience
• Assist guests in locating merchandise

• Operate the cash register accurately and efficiently
• Process purchases, returns, and handle cash, card, and voucher transactions
• Promote add-on opportunities, including round-up donations to support the store’s mission

• Make regular store announcements to inform guests of promotions, specials, and events
• Support sales initiatives that drive revenue and customer engagement

• Keep shelves, racks, and displays stocked, organized, and visually appealing
• Assist with go-backs and restocking throughout the day
• Recover and straighten merchandise regularly
• Maintain visual merchandising standards (color flow, sizing, category organization)
• Rotate merchandise as needed

• Maintain a clean and organized front end, sales floor, and fitting rooms
• Follow all safety procedures and store standards
• Support overall store cleanliness and presentation

• Work closely with Production Associates to ensure timely stocking and flow of merchandise
• Occasionally assist the Donor Services team as needed
• Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding store operations and guest feedback

The Guest Services Associate is essential to the success of the CIS Thrift Store, directly influencing customer satisfaction and sales performance. By providing excellent service and maintaining an inviting shopping environment, this role helps drive revenue that supports the organization’s mission and community impact.

• Previous retail or customer service experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
• Basic math and cash-handling skills
• Team-oriented with a positive, mission-driven attitude
• Strong attention to detail and organization

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and move merchandise as needed
• Frequent walking, bending, and reaching

• Able to work Tuesdays through Saturdays, openings shifts and closing shifts
• Up to 25 hours per week
