A Master Electrician is a highly skilled technician responsible for diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of machinery and equipment used in cement production and manufacturing. The role requires deep knowledge of Electrical and Automation Systems and the ability to use a wide range of tools and diagnostic equipment to identify and fix problems. The Master Electrician installs equipment and machinery and performs reactive, predictive, and preventative maintenance routines.
They work closely with the production department and other maintenance/electrical team members, train and mentor other Electricians, and collaborate with contractors when necessary.
General
- Perform inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and automation equipment according to preventive maintenance schedule.
- Utilize diagnostic instruments to fix, supply, and test voltages and conduct circuits.
- Perform PDMA tests and interpret motor status results.
- Inspect and repair fire systems (FIKE, CO2 injection, Deluge).
- Read and work from electrical diagrams with minimal supervision.
- Apply arc‑flash training, wire marking, cable pulling, conduit bending, motor lubrication, terminations, and circuit modification.
Circuits
- Repair and troubleshoot circuits.
- Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, or adjust faulty parts and wiring on electrical equipment.
Motors
- Perform motor refurbishment according to OEM standards.
- Replace brushes, measure spring strength, replace brush holders, and set new brushes; includes low, medium, and high voltage equipment.
Power
- Perform preventive maintenance on 4160 power distribution, switches, and a 6400 KVA transformer.
- Apply National Electrical Code knowledge and experience working with AC single‑phase and three‑phase systems (416 OV, 48 OV, 11 OV), DC solid‑state drives, VFD drives, and motor generator sets.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair VFDs, electronic boards, and power systems (including DV, AC in low and medium voltage; GE, Yaskawa, ABB, Toshiba, TMEIC, Allen Bradley).
- Conduct isolating tests on medium voltage cables, transformers, and main switches.
- Inspect mechanical relays and troubleshoot.
- Inspect medium voltage motor starters, rheostats, and synchronous motors.
- Inspect and repair UPS systems.
Calibrations
- Run calibrations, troubleshoot, and verify CEMS and process analyzers in K1 and K2 with patron gas.
- Install, configure, calibrate, or verify any process transmitter, including RTD, TC, pressure, flow, current, LVDT, and 4–20 mA transmitters.
Weigh Feeders
- Inspect and configure weigh feeder controllers.
- Inspect load cells and encoders.
- Align weight rollers.
- Inspect, calibrate, and verify scales, weight bins, and impact scales (Miltronics, Siemens, Merrick, Pfister, Schenck).
Automation
- Control troubleshoot and modify signals, trends, and analyses.
- Install and program transmitters.
- Configure PLC input signals in field and PLC.
- Inspect PLCs and digital drives/control systems.
- High school graduate or equivalent required; associate degree or Industrial Electrical/Automation Diploma, or equivalent military certification preferred.
- 5–7 years electrical maintenance experience in industrial operations required.
- 5–7 years experience in aggregate, cement, or heavy industrial operations preferred.
- Electrical certification or license, or ability to obtain credentials.
