Position Overview

The Ready Mix Driver position is responsible for the transportation of ready‑mix concrete to construction projects, company‑owned facilities, or various customers. This skilled role involves the safe and efficient operation of ready‑mix trucks, delivering in both industrial and residential areas and working largely independently under supervisor instructions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines.
  • Load and unload equipment or materials.
  • Monitor gauges while operating the vehicle.
  • Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Obey laws and dispatch instructions.
  • Ensure product quality to the best of ability.
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major issues to the supervisor.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and in orderly condition.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance at assigned times.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following are the minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience driving a mixer truck (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and a CDL A or CDL B license.
Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass DOT physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
  • Must possess a valid DOT medical card.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist coworkers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude to coworkers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must maintain a driver’s license that meets state requirements (CDL, Class A/B, air‑brake endorsement, possible hazmat and tanker endorsements).
  • MVR must meet company and DOT standards.
  • Must be willing to travel, work away from home, and work nights or weekends when necessary.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, safety shoes, and safety glasses as required by OSHA/MSHA.
  • Compliance with all OSHA/MSHA regulations.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Ability to learn operational knowledge and skills needed for mixer truck and related equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations for records and timekeeping.
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently under various working conditions.
  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Work effectively in a team environment and independently with attention to detail.
  • Operate heavy and complex equipment requiring skill and judgment.
  • Secure heavy equipment and other over‑dimensioned loads.
  • Interact professionally with customers, collect payments, and assist with issues that may arise.
  • Operate various heavy equipment such as Truck/Car, Ready‑Mix Truck, Loader/Backhoe, and Haul Truck.
Physical Requirements
  • Climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift, stretch, sit, drive, shift gears, and handle loads as needed.
  • Stand, walk, use hands, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and communicate.
  • May sit for extended periods.
  • Vision: close, distance, peripheral, depth awareness, and ability to focus.
  • Ability to exert 10‑20 lbs constantly, 25‑50 lbs frequently, and 50‑100 lbs occasionally.
Work Environment
  • Work in all weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock or burns.
  • Noise levels may be moderate to loud depending on area.
