Traffic Services Worker

Summary

Under direct supervision, the Traffic Services Worker performs routine traffic control including flagging, traffic cone placement, barricade placement, and driving a pilot car. This individual will have contact with the public and must be able to perform strenuous work outdoors under all weather conditions.

• Assists with accomplishing traffic control tasks related to roadway maintenance and right-of-way maintenance.
• Demonstrates the ability to work with all crews.
• Knows and implements the Comal County Accident Prevention Plan.
• Removes dead animals and bulky goods from the public right-of-way and private property, as directed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains mandatory attendance.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets for chemicals used as part of the job, as well as applicable safety rules and regulations.

• Valid Texas driver’s license and 3‑year driving history to operate county vehicles.
• Certified Flagger through training provided by Comal County.
• Certifications that meet the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices requirements.

Able to establish and maintain an effective and cooperative working relationship with other employees; able to perform strenuous work outdoors under all weather conditions.
