Overview

CW Resources – Payroll Accounting Clerk is a full-time onsite role based in New Britain, CT. The position supports the financial heartbeat of the organization by ensuring payroll is processed accurately, records are maintained carefully, and employees receive timely, reliable support. This role is suited for someone who values structured work, precision, and teamwork.

Location & Schedule
  • Location:

    Onsite – New Britain, CT
  • Shift: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Compensation
  • Pay range: $24.00 – $27.00 per hour
  • Compensation may be based on experience, education, and qualifications, in accordance with applicable law.
Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain confidential employee master records and files, ensuring accuracy and security.
  • Enter and update payroll-related data (new hires, rehires, terminations, job changes, rate adjustments).
  • Prepare and process regular and off-cycle payrolls for assigned pay groups or companies using a third-party payroll provider.
  • Review timesheets, reconcile hours worked, and ensure timely and accurate payroll postings each pay cycle.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, errors, or omissions in a timely manner.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to payroll (employee questions and third-party requests).
  • Maintain and manage access to third-party payroll systems and ensure proper documentation is provided.
  • Provide payroll coverage during the absence of other payroll staff to maintain continuity of operations.
  • Scan, file, and organize payroll documents while maintaining confidentiality and data security.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing payroll records and supporting documentation.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing or general accounting.
  • Proficiency in payroll transactions and terminology.
  • Understanding of payroll processing cycles, tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices related to payroll.
  • Strong numerical skills and ability to perform accurate payroll calculations.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., UKG) and general office software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to adapt to changes in payroll regulations, company policies, and technology; maintains confidentiality of payroll information.
Preferred & Bonus Skills
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • Professional certification such as FPC or CPP from the American Payroll Association.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with UKG payroll software.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to analyze payroll data, and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective in addressing employee inquiries and collaborating with management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
