The State of Connecticut, Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), is now accepting applications for Motor Vehicle Examiner positions. These roles are part-time, flexible, travel-based, and offer variety across multiple office locations.

OUR TEAM

  • The Special Work Assignment Travel Team (SWATT) is a DMV initiative to support our agency workforce across the State of Connecticut. SWATT was created in 2019 to help branches maintain staffing levels on a temporary and as-needed basis for vacations or sickness. Location assignments could be planned in advance or known the day of. SWATT Branch locations include Bridgeport, Hamden, New Britain, Norwich and Wethersfield, CT.
  • Temporary SWATT positions have changed to permanent part-time (34 hours per week). These positions assist with the initial intake of customers and motor vehicle transactions and require proficiency with computer systems. Incumbents may be assigned to other branch locations and may work overtime.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Part-time (34 hours per week, up to 39 hours possible)
  • Schedule:

    Tue, Wed, Fri 9:00 am – 4:45 pm;
    Thu 10:30 am – 6:15 pm;
    Sat 7:45 am – 12:45 pm
  • Must be willing to travel; travel up to 45 miles from home location
  • First shift;
    Office/On-Site (No telework)
THE ROLE
  • Motor Vehicle Examiner positions are in the SWATT, working in a fast-paced environment with high customer contact and money handling. We seek detail-oriented people with excellent customer service skills.
  • Assist with initial intake of customers and perform motor vehicle transactions; proficient with operating computer systems
  • Incumbents may work at other branch locations and may work overtime
  • Incumbents must be willing to travel; travel to different branch locations is required depending on agency needs
  • You will be assigned a location based on application preferences
  • Applicants should select all areas they are interested in and commutable to; travel to other nearby DMV locations may be required
  • SWATT employees receive mileage reimbursement for travel
