POSITION SUMMARY:

CREC seeks a talented Long Term Substitute Physical Education teacher for a teaching position at the Academy of Science and Innovation.

PE/Health teachers work under the general supervision of their school principal performing the essential performance responsibilities listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties/Responsibilities

Develop and administer curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.

Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction, and student learning.

Develops grade-level appropriate lesson plans and instructional materials for students. Then translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential activities, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.

Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual students' needs; conduct individual and small group instruction as needed.

Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

Uses technology in the service of learning and completing professional responsibilities (e.g., various learning platforms, gradebook, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office).

Teaching/Subject Assignment Specific:

Administer and record results for the Connecticut Physical Fitness Assessment.

Attend training sessions for supervising high ropes courses (if applicable for program site)

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • State Certification as Teacher preferred.
  • BA required.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide transportation to meetings, trainings, and professional learning opportunities as required.
