Position SummaryThe ASL and Deaf Studies Program seeks a part-time instructor toteach two in-person sections of Elementary ASL I (Sections 01 and 04) at the undergraduate level. Classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:20 p.m.
-7:10 p.m. The instructor will teach ASL vocabulary, grammar, and communication skills, along with basic knowledge of Deaf culture, in a supportive and engaging classroom.
- Teach two sections of Elementary ASL I
- Follow the approved course syllabus and learning outcomes
- Use active learning strategies to build students' ASL proficiency and cultural knowledge
- Take attendance, assess student learning, and submit final gradesby university deadlines
- Provide a supportive, inclusive learning environment
- Master's degree in ASL, Deaf Studies, Linguistics, Education, ora related field
- Fluency in ASL and strong knowledge of its linguistic structure
- Knowledge of Deaf culture and Deaf Studies
- Strong pedagogical skills, including experience with active learning strategies
- Commitment to student-centered ASL instruction
- ASLTA (American Sign Language Teachers Association) certification
- College-level teaching experience
