Applications Engineer – Power Systems & Grid Integration
We are partnering with a rapidly growing energy technology company seeking an experienced Applications Engineer to support customer-facing power system design and integration efforts. This role is ideal for someone with a strong electrical power systems background who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering, customer solutions, and emerging energy infrastructure.
The position will focus on developing and standardizing power solutions for large-scale commercial and industrial applications, including mission‑critical facilities and high‑load environments. The engineer will work closely with customers to design integrated solutions involving generation assets, energy storage systems, substations, transformers, switch gear, and control systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop technical solutions for customer power and energy infrastructure projects.
- Design and evaluate grid‑connected and microgrid architectures.
- Support utility interconnection requirements and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
- Define integration strategies between generation resources, energy storage systems, substations, transformers, switch gear, and plant controls.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to create standardized, repeatable solution designs.
- Review and oversee power system modeling activities and related technical work scopes.
- Provide technical leadership and serve as a subject matter expert on electrical power systems.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or similar discipline with significant power systems experience). Strong experience within utilities, power generation, grid infrastructure, or distributed energy resources.
- Hands‑on knowledge of microgrids, utility distribution systems, and utility interconnection processes.
- Experience with substations and medium‑to‑high‑voltage power systems.
- Familiarity with power system modeling tools such as PSCAD, HIL/HILS, or similar platforms.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both customers and engineering teams.
- Previous experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring engineers is a plus.
- Hybrid role with preference for candidates able to work onsite periodically.
- Remote candidates may be considered depending on location and experience.
Base salary target: $150,000 – $180,000 depending on experience.
Ideal Candidate Profile- This opportunity is particularly attractive for engineers coming from utility companies, grid operators, power generation organizations, EPC firms, microgrid developers, or other companies focused on electrical infrastructure. Candidates with deep utility, distribution, substation, and grid integration experience will be especially well aligned with the role.
