The Costing Engineer – Manufacturing is a full-time, on-site role based in New Britain, CT. This role is responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining cost estimates for new and existing medical device components and assemblies, including materials, labor, machine time, tooling, and overhead. The Costing Engineer collaborates with engineering, operations, procurement, and sales to evaluate manufacturing methods, define routing and process steps, and provide accurate quotations and pricing inputs to support customer proposals.

Day-to-day tasks include reviewing technical drawings and specifications, assessing manufacturability, modeling cost scenarios, and identifying cost-saving opportunities through process improvements and design-for-manufacture recommendations. The role also involves updating cost models based on actual production performance, supporting capital investment analyses, and ensuring alignment with AVNA’s quality and regulatory requirements.

• Demonstrated experience in cost estimation and analysis for manufacturing processes, including machining, metal forming, plastic injection molding, and assembly operations.
• Strong technical skills in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, bills of materials (BOMs), and process routings.
• Proficiency with ERP or MRP systems, cost modeling tools, and spreadsheets (e.g., advanced Excel) to build and maintain cost structures.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing principles such as cycle time calculation, capacity planning, tooling and fixture cost allocation, and lean/continuous improvement concepts.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, supply chain, quality, and commercial teams) and communicate cost drivers clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
