Overview

CMHA is a private non-profit treatment provider headquartered in New Britain, with seven locations in the city and Waterbury. We partner with clients and the community to promote recovery from mental illness and substance use, treating more than 7,500 adults and children each year. CMHA is Connecticut’s first fully Joint Commission accredited Behavioral Health Home and a SAMHSA Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC).

CMHA is looking to hire a part-time Occupational Therapist (20 hours per week) for the Young Adult Assertive Community Treatment Program. This position will be located at 29 Russell St., New Britain, CT 06051.

Compensation Range: The annual salary range for this position starts at $35,250.

Position Summary: Provides comprehensive assessment of skill levels and daily functioning of Residential and/or Community clients. Collaborates with the multi-disciplinary team to develop treatment plans and programming. Supports clients in attaining skills identified as goals to enable movement to less restrictive levels of care in the community.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients’ physical, emotional, and social needs through observation and assessment.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans to improve patients’ functional abilities.
  • Provide therapy to patients recovering from injury, illness, or disability.
  • Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Document patient progress and update treatment plans as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current state license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Connecticut.
  • Strong knowledge of therapeutic techniques and rehabilitation methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
