Principal Architect – Enterprise Architecture
Job Summary:
As a Principal Architect – Enterprise Architecture, you will act as a strategic technology partner, translating opportunities into business-aligned technology strategies and ensuring technology investments deliver measurable value. You will collaborate with business and IT leaders to create road‑maps, standards, and guidelines across integration, ERP, data, AI, and related domains.
Responsibilities- Partner with business leaders and IT to understand strategic objectives and translate them into actionable architecture artifacts (capability maps, value streams, operating models, and road‑maps).
- Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture framework, ensuring alignment between business goals and IT strategy.
- Support portfolio planning by linking initiatives to capabilities and strategic outcomes.
- Track and communicate the value delivered by technology initiatives, using metrics and KPIs to demonstrate business impact.
- Facilitate cross‑functional workshops and architecture reviews to drive alignment and decision making.
- Establish and maintain architectural standards, templates and governance practices.
- Promote application, integration, data architecture strategy, including data governance, quality, and security.
- Lead the adoption and integration of AI/ML technologies across capabilities, ensuring responsible and ethical use of AI.
- Interact with various business and IT stakeholders throughout the planning, PMO, SDLC and Service Management processes.
- Lead the complexity‑reduction agenda by enabling alignment to standards.
- Work with BUs, responsible for retirement of obsolete applications and technologies.
- Incorporate domain‑specific strategies into the future‑state BU application portfolio.
- Facilitate the effective integration of frameworks and corresponding processes with other related business and IT processes and patterns from an architectural standpoint.
- Lead and facilitate the creation of governing principles to guide information, technology, and solution decision making for the enterprise.
- Oversee development and maintenance of conceptual, logical, and physical application architecture.
- Provide reusable standards, guidelines, patterns and frameworks.
Functional Skills
- Ability to tie together solutions across systems.
- Business acumen in multiple capability areas (Finance, Supply Chain, Enterprise Services), preferably in manufacturing industry.
- Business process modeling.
- Facilitation.
- Knowledge of required technologies (including 3rd‑party solutions).
- Understanding of future technologies.
- Project and product delivery model knowledge.
- Strong understanding of value‑tracking methodologies and experience with business case development.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Technical Skills
- Cloud computing/SaaS technologies – Azure, Google, AWS.
- Container strategies – Kubernetes, EC2, Docker.
- Dev Ops.
- Microservices.
- Enterprise architecture frameworks – TOGAF, Zachman.
- Integration architecture – APIs, ESBs, ETL, REST/SOAP.
- Data analytics – No
SQL, data lakes, Power BI, Tableau. - Security framework.
- AI/ML frameworks.
- ERPs.
Education & Experience
- Undergraduate degree and 16+ years relevant experience, or graduate degree and 12+ years relevant experience.
- Additional training or certification in organization change management highly desirable.
- Previous experience as a successful enterprise architect highly desirable.
- 7 to 10 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines (technical architecture, solution architecture, network management, application development, middleware design, information analysis, database management or operations management) in a heterogeneous environment.
- Or five years of experience in solution architecture, business analysis or business strategic planning.
