Summary
This position retrieves, inspects, and prepares product to customer supplied specifications.
- Maintain safe work procedures and a safe work environment
- Operate Concrete Mixer Machine and Batch Plant
- Maintain records of production and quality issues as specified
- Notify supervisor of non-conforming product or problems with machine, materials, etc.
- Communicate production issues with other employees and supervisors
- Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
- Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance assuring product meets quality requirements
- Perform routine machine maintenance
- Basic understanding of electronics and programmable controllers
- Know the basics of hydraulics, electricity and tools
- Assist other operators to set up machines and any other necessary tasks to adhere to deadlines and completion of product
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
- Understand and apply safe use and operation of the equipment and communicate with other employees about safety related matters
- Batch concrete load according to specifications
- Maintain time and material records
- Ability to understand appropriate uses of various mix designs
- Schedule and ensure timely delivery of oil, fuel, aggregates, admixtures, and supplies to plant
- Responsible for efficient working condition of plant equipment
- High school diploma or GED equivalent or one to six months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Concrete Fundamentals
- ACI Field Testing Certified (not required, but capable of achieving within 6 months)
- Four years batching-related experience
- Knowledge of mix designing
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance requirements
- Familiarity with aggregate gradations
- Experience with inventory management
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively on radio/phone system
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Windows
Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA and state agencies. Protective equipment that is required for this position:
Hardhat, safety glasses, reinforced toed shoes, hand protection, safety vest/high visibility clothing for any work in the field, and hearing protection.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust to focus, and operate various pieces of equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
