Position: 2nd Shift CNC Swiss Machinist

Location:

New Britain, CT
Monday – Friday, 3:00pm – 11:30pm
Temp to Perm
Pay Rate: $32/hr

Position Overview

Responsible for setting up CNC Swiss as directed by the CNC Supervisor.

Essential Job Functions
  • Set up and operate CNC Swiss equipment (Citizen and Tsugami) located in the CNC Swiss Department.
  • Work independently using prints, work instructions and all measuring and gauging tools.
  • Change and/or set all required tooling.
  • Understand fixturing and work holding for the machine group being used.
  • Perform 1st piece and in-process inspections.
  • Maintain quality of all products leaving the CNC Swiss Department on assigned machines.
  • Train and monitor operators in the department.
  • Follow all company safety rules and report any unsafe acts to immediate supervisor.
  • Understand all company processes, procedures and rules as stated in the Peter Paul Electronic Company Employee Handbook.
  • Perform all 5S as required within the CNC Swiss Department.
  • Perform line walks for the Swiss area as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Perform any other duties directed by immediate supervisor.
Additional Job Functions
  • Support the strategic goals and vision of the organization by promoting reduction of lead times and contributing to the overall experience of our customers.
  • Participate in company problem resolution teams.
  • Participate in company Kaizen events.
  • Prepare and present Gemba Board as needed.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ setup experience on CNC machines.
  • Analytical with troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiar with feeds and speeds.
  • Familiar with aluminum, brass, ledloy, 300 series stainless steels (including 316), 430F stainless steel and 430FR stainless steel.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to follow instructions, make sound decisions and accept responsibility.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Understanding of the Lean Enterprise Tool.
Physical Demands

Employees are required to lift up to 50lbs infrequently, use hands to change tools, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms; stand or walk frequently. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.
