American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Respiratory Step Down Unit in a Long Term Acute Care setting, requiring a CT or compact RN license and 1-2 years of experience.

• Respiratory Step Down Unit in a Long Term Acute Care hospital setting
• Respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patient population in a medical (non-traditional Med/Surg) environment
• Unit ratios of 1:9 for day/evening shifts and 1:12 for nights
• 38-bed Respiratory Step-Down Unit
• May float to like chronic care units including RCU, RCU2, SDU, and TRU, with travelers floating first
• Float assignments may split a 12-hour shift between two units (e.g., 4 hours on one unit, 8 hours on another)
• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 hours per week over a 13-week assignment
• Every other weekend required
• Nurses are responsible for IV starts, drips, blood administration, EKGs, med titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressing, and wound measurements
• Ventilator management is handled by Respiratory Therapists, not nursing staff

• Active CT or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• 1-2 years of RN experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• RN experience with respiratory or ventilated patients strongly preferred

• Care for a medically complex population including TBI and chronic care patients on units such as TRU
• Local candidates accepted
• Local rate available within 50 miles
