About This Role

The Wound, Ostomy and Continence RN Acute (WOC) is an essential member of the nursing clinical team, providing expert clinical care, consultation, education, and leadership related to wound, skin, ostomy, and continence needs.

• Coordinate care for populations of patients and identify trends.
• Develop and implement educational programs for patients, families, and colleagues.
• Provide formal and informal consultation and serve as a resource to patients and the healthcare team.
• Advocate for the rights, ethical standards, and safety of patients and the healthcare team.
• Review cases for quality improvement and formulate plans for improvement.
• Develop evidence-based protocols/treatments and refine them based on emerging evidence.
• Promote the profession of nursing and professional practice.
• Communicate effectively with staff and be visible and accessible.

Education:

• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years with at least 2000 hours of progressive wound and skill experience in clinical practice required
• 5 or more years of active clinical nursing experience preferred

Licenses &

Certifications:

• Licensed Registered Nurse from the CT DPH
• Enrollment in a WOCN Society Accredited Educational Program within one year of hire
• Completion of board certification in wound/ostomy/continence through WOCNCB within a defined timeline following enrollment in educational program
• BLS certification required
