Wound, Ostomy and Continence; WOC) RN Acute - IP Nursing Wound Care

About This Role

The Wound, Ostomy and Continence (WOC) RN Acute is an essential member of the nursing clinical team, providing expert clinical care and consultation for patients with wound, skin, ostomy, and continence needs. This role is ideal for a dedicated RN with a passion for patient advocacy and quality improvement.

• Location: New Britain, CT
• Facility: The Hospital of Central Connecticut
• Schedule: Full Time, Day shift

• Coordinate care for populations of patients and identify trends.
• Develop and implement educational programs for patients, families, and colleagues.
• Provide formal and informal consultation and serve as a resource to patients and healthcare teams.
• Advocate for the rights, ethical standards, and safety of patients and healthcare teams.
• Communicate effectively with staff and be visible and accessible.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for wounds, fistulae, pressure ulcers, and ostomy care.
• Refine protocols based on emerging evidence, products, therapies, and outcomes.
• Promote the profession of nursing and professional practice.
• Review cases for quality improvement and formulate plans for improvement.
• Demonstrate leadership skills and a commitment to education for continuous quality improvement.

Education:

• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years with at least 2000 hours of progressive wound and skill experience in clinical practice
• Experience in EPIC EHR preferred

Licenses &

Certifications:

• Licensed Registered Nurse from the CT DPH
• Enrollment in a WOCN Society Accredited Educational Program within one year of hire
• Completion of board certification in wound/ostomy/continence through WOCNCB within a defined timeline following enrollment
• BLS certification required
