Clinical Research, Research Scientist, Research Assistant/Associate
The Department of Neuroscience at Yale School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time, non-tenure track, faculty-level Associate Research Scientist with expertise in neuroscience to join an active and growing research environment. Optimally, the candidate will have familiarity with translational and clinical research as well as basic research. The successful candidate will hold an appointment in the Department of Neuroscience and will be committed to working with the PI of the lab and several collaborators in supporting two main projects:the Yale Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and a new spinal cord clinical research trial.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent related to Neuroscience. This collaborative research position helps support the research infrastructure of the NIH-funded Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) at Yale through its Administrative Core. Work will include interactions with multiple different research groups through a range of Cores, assisting with experimental design, data analyses, grant development, clinical trials, abstracts and manuscripts.
Preference will be given to experienced individuals who have
1) demonstrated ability to professionally support and manage projects in collaborative settings across teams of researchers and core services;
2) documented skill in communicating scientific ideas and plans via written documents, such as grant applications, with researchers and the public;
3) demonstrated expertise in clinical trial protocol development expertise is a priority but it can be developed as one aspect of the position;
4) a record of independent and innovative methodological research would be welcomed and supported as well. In sum, the ideal candidate will have versatility across neuroscience and have a strong demonstrated interest and ability to work collaboratively with excellent communication skills.
This is an in-person position located in New Haven, CT at the Yale School of Medicine.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain project charters, scopes, milestones, timelines, and dependency maps.
- Lead recurring project meetings; prepare agendas, document decisions, and track action items to completion.
- Produce concise status updates for the PI, ADRC stakeholders, and collaborators.
- Coordinate animal study schedules, resource needs, and shared services (vivarium coordination, procedures, behavioral testing, tissue collection, core facility use).
- Track and support animal protocol submissions, amendments, continuing reviews, and training/documentation requirements (in partnership with compliance staff).
- Maintain organized, version-controlled study documentation (protocols, SOPs, sample logs, experimental records) to support reproducibility and audit readiness.
- Coordinate clinical trial operations with the PI and clinical teams: timelines, recruitment/status tracking, calendars, and monitoring/review readiness.
- Support IRB lifecycle management with Central IRB (initial submissions, amendments, continuing reviews, and related documentation workflows).
- Support ADRC operational cadence: meeting coordination, calendars, deliverable tracking, and stakeholder communications for Administrative Core and support activities across the ADRC at Yale.
- Compile materials for ADRC reporting, progress updates, and reviews (as applicable).
