** QUALIFICATIONS
* ** A.S. Degree in food service management or Certified Dietary Manager preferred.
* One year supervisory experience in a healthcare environment.
* Certified in food service sanitation.
* Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
** JOB SUMMARY
** Ensures quality food service operations for patients and staff delivered in accordance with regulatory standards for all aspects of food handling. Supervises the activities of food service staff. Assures that the appearance and cleanliness of all kitchen areas are maintained within the guidelines established by hospital policy and regulatory agencies.
** PHYSICAL DEMANDS
*** Standing and walking continuously for up to seven hours.
* Lifting 1 – 20 pounds frequently, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
* Push / pull 1 – 20 pounds frequently, occasionally pulling up to 300 pounds.
* Bend, twist, squat, and reach frequently.
* See, hear, smell, and taste continuously.
* Occasional grasping with both hands.
* Frequent fine manipulation with one or both hands
** COGNITIVE DEMANDS
*** Problem Solving – Tasks allow for the application of previously acquired knowledge. Tasks require flexibility of thought, reasoning, organizational skills, and the ability to act in some new or unfamiliar situations. Selective attention and concentration are necessary to complete some tasks.
* Written expression/communication tasks require legibility, spelling accuracy, and logical sentence and paragraph organization. A working knowledge and familiarity with professional terms and definitions is required.
* Verbal expression/communication – Tasks require a high level of communication skills including expression of abstract/complex ideas, use of negotiation and active listening and an ability to dialogue with multiple parties.
* Reading/Auditory comprehension – Tasks require the ability to comprehend lengthy and complex messages or paragraphs and to follow multi – stage and three – step commands.
* Computation – Tasks require ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Perform basic arithmetic operations with coins and bills. Perform operations with measuring units.
** WORK DEMANDS
*** Inside, wet, humid, large temperature swings, noisy, odors, hazards, working around others, working in crowded space, quick response, flexible schedule.
** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*** Directly supervises the FSA aides, Cashiers and Nutrition care Associates.
* Fills in on job assignments when needed.
* Contributes to the regulatory process as it relates to acceptable standards for food and nutrition services. Maintains Quality Assurance processes, as assigned and submits appropriate daily QA checklists.
* Maintains effective communications with the Executive Chef, and other Hospital leadership in order to solve problems and improve quality.
* Coordinates and leads staff meetings and assures effective communications.
* Completes and coordinates performance evaluations and the development of goals for assigned staff.
* Identifies and coordinates staff education programs.
* Actively participates in employee development, coaching and counseling.
* Maximizes the efficient use of food and material supplies and employs sound cost containment principles. Orders supplies as necessary.
* Directs, delegates, and evaluates the effectiveness of staff, accomplishment of goals and objectives, and the delivery of high quality services.
